What is the goal of DACA?

The DACA program allows more than 720,000 people to live and work in the United States without fear of removal.

Why are DACA recipients ‘dreamers’?

Because they came to the United States before they turned 16.

What does DACA stand for?

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival.  Because a dreamer is not a priority for removal, he or she is not removed from the United States.

Why is it even more sensitive than other immigration issues?

A lot of the dreamers do not remember the country in which they were born.  The United States is all they know.  Plus they did not make the decision to break immigration law, as they were children when it happened.

Why are the rules governing DACA easy to change?

It was instituted by an executive order of the President of the United States, so it can also be modified by one.  Or U.S. immigration agencies could alter the rules under which the program operates. No legislative vote is needed to alter the current DACA program.
