Glossary

The form I-130, along with its associated supporting documents, is the first (initial) phase of a green card application. The applicant and the sponsor work together to show USCIS that the sponsor has legal status in the United States, that the family relationship exists and is qualifying, and that the sponsor is willing to formally sponsor the applicant.
